PAIN — What It Is, Why It Lingers, and How We Help You Resolve It For Good

Serving Newcastle, North Tyneside & Surrounding Areas • Breakthrough Pain &
Performance (Shiremoor)

What is pain, really?

In simple terms: pain is a protective output from the brain when it believes an area needs guarding. That protection shows up as muscle tightness, restricted range, and avoidance of certain movements. Using P‑DTR (a Functional Neurology method), we test the receptors that inform the brain — muscle, tendon, ligament, skin, as well as visual/vestibular systems — and correct the faulty information. When the inputs are right, protection eases and pain reduces.

What you’ll feel in session

Expect lots of short, specific tests and retests, not long exercise lists. We use precise receptor inputs (tendon, ligament, cutaneous) plus breathing resets, eye/vestibular drills, and positional loading only where needed. Most home drills take seconds and are used for the first week to build capacity; then we re‑check and progress.

Why does pain sometimes last long after the injury is gone?

Because the brain can stay in “protect” mode when key receptors are still sending noisy signals. If you’ve had pain for 12+ weeks, tissue healing has usually occurred; what remains is often a problem with the information the brain is using. We find the drivers of that high- alert state and normalise them so your body feels safe again.

Who we help

How we assess (fast, precise, repeatable)

You’ll feel the difference in session. We start with targeted neuro-muscular testing to see which muscles can switch on, which can relax, and which are stuck in a protective pattern. We then challenge vision, balance and position to expose hidden drivers. When we correct the right input, your strength and range change immediately — and we re‑test to prove it. Most clients notice clear change in 1–3 sessions, with complex cases taking longer.

What changes when protection eases

Ready to feel change quickly — not in months?

Book a FREE Taster Session at our Shiremoor clinic (serving Newcastle & North Tyneside). We’ll show you exactly what’s driving your pain and prove change with on‑the‑spot re‑tests. If it’s a good fit, we’ll outline a short plan to get you back to living and performing at your best.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a replacement for medical care?

No. We’re not an emergency service. If red flags are present we refer out. Our work
complements medical care by restoring function and reducing over‑protection in your
nervous system.

Many people feel clear change within 1–3 sessions. Complex, long‑standing cases can take
longer. We’ll reassess each visit so you see steady progress.

No. You’ll receive 1–5 short drills that take seconds, used in the first week to build capacity.
We re‑check and adjust as your system stabilises.

We use P‑DTR within a Functional Neurology framework — precise receptor testing and
targeted inputs to normalise protective patterns so your body feels safe.
